Hope

April 13 2020

I had the opportunity to catch up with a state leader and friend last week and discuss any advancements in the fight against COVID-19. While many think the virus will linger into and through the summer, it seems that there is HOPE that we will start to get back to normal after this month.

But what struck me was how many times this state leader used the word HOPE. So, it got me to thinking and I wanted to start the week sharing these thoughts.

For Christians and Jews, this is a very holy time on our faith calendars. The Jewish faith began celebrating Passover last week, which celebrates the Israelites escape from slavery in ancient Egypt, and Christians celebrated Easter and the Resurrection just yesterday.

Now, I’m not sharing this message for religious reasons, but rather to share the common theme for both faiths this week, and that is the spirit of hope. Millions upon millions of people look to this week with great hope and faith, and I think no matter your beliefs, we can all hold hope and faith closely.

We will hold hope for our health and well-being. We will also hope for the health and well-being of all of those we care the most about.

We will hold to hope that our medical professionals stay safe and can quickly find a treatment and then a vaccine.

We will hold to hope that our country’s leaders make the best decisions to keep us safe, but with measured caution that doesn’t cripple our economy or our spirit.

And we will hold to hope that our company comes through this whole and even stronger.

People will tell you, “hope is not a strategy,” and I think they're right. But as Dr. King said, “even in the inevitable moments when all seems hopeless, men know that without hope they cannot really live, and in agonizing desperation, they cry for the bread of hope.”

Keep hoping for the best for yourselves and your families, our country, and our company. Have faith that we are doing everything we can to ensure that when all of this is over, we will be better for having survived this storm.

Take care of yourselves and one another.

All the Best,

Jeff Beckham
