CVSA’s Operation Safe Driver Week Scheduled July 12-18

July 06 2020

Next week starts the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) 2020 Operation Safe Driver Week. This week, dedicated to looking at driver safety will go on as planned July 12-18,  will focus “on speeding, which CVSA said has been increasing in recent months with highway traffic significantly declined due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” according to this Transport Topics article.

Safe Driver Week is a safety initiative in partnership with law enforcement across the nation to ensure truck drivers are participating in safe driving habits and following the laws meant to keep our highways accident free. “Drivers identified displaying unsafe driving will be pulled over by law enforcement and may be issued a warning or citation.”

The CVSA listed, “examples of other dangerous driver behaviors that law enforcement will track during the special enforcement operation include distracted driving, failure to use a seat belt, following too closely, improper lane change, reckless or aggressive driving, failure to obey traffic control devices, and evidence of drunk or drugged driving.”

Again, speeding will be a primary focus as speeds have risen dramatically in March/April versus January/February before the COVID-19 pandemic shifted the nations driving patterns.

Kingsgate has committed to working with the best carriers and values the safety of our clients’ freight and the safety of those who share the road with semi-tricks. With that in mind, our carrier network of nearly 65,000 freight carriers vetted for the highest safety ratings and hold an outstanding insurance status.

We thank the CVSA and law enforcement for their work to keep roadways safe next week! Thanks for reading.

All the Best,

Jeff Beckham
