DAYTON DISASTER: REBUILDING AND THE AFTERMATH

A couple weeks ago, a devastating tornado hit the Miami Valley/Dayton area. “More than 60,000 homes and businesses were without power… A boil advisory was issued and residents of Dayton and Montgomery County were asked to conserve water,” according to this USA Today article. Homes across Ohio were damaged and destroyed, leaving their community to rebuild in the aftermath. With Dayton being our neighbor, home to several of our employees, and the location of our Ground Control satellite office, Kingsgate knew we had to help!

Our Dayton team dedicated their time by distributing water while the boil-advisory was in place two days after the tornado hit. Kingsgate as a whole wanted to do more to help, and our West Chester and Dayton team held a canned food drive to help give back to the Dayton community as they rebuild. My siblings and I were beyond proud of the donations our team collected, and are grateful for having such generous employees. Additionally, we were able to send members of the Kingsgate Family up to the Harrison Fire Department to help sort and hand out supplies to those who were affected by the Dayton tornadoes.

One of the volunteers, Angelica D., noted, “I am very grateful that I was able to help those that were affected because despite what happened, a lot of the families I talked to and helped out still remained strong and had a smile on their face. It was a very humbling experience and a great way to bond with my co-workers as well.” Here are some photos from our volunteers:
