Loving Logistics

February 10 2020

There are countless quotes about the importance of loving what you do, possibly the most famous or common is – “if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” With Valentine’s Day this Friday and this sentiment in mind, I wanted to ask Kingsgate employees why they love logistics. Here’s what they said:

------------------------------------------------------

“I love working with my customers and coming through for them when they need it; the people you get to work with on a daily basis.” – Haley L.

“I love the collaboration that takes place in the industry. Early on in my career, I had someone in the industry look at me and say, ‘Welcome to logistics, you'll find out very quickly that this industry is a whole lot smaller than it actually looks, and I've found that to be true. While logistics is vast in scope of what we're doing here, you'll bump into a lot of familiar faces who are really working hard to make it better for everyone and that collaboration is what makes this truly unique in my opinion.” – Tom C.

“What’s exciting about working in a communications role in the logistics industry is the ability to communicate innovative ideas and problem-solve with other industry and academic partners.” – Rian B.

“What I love about working in logistics is never having one day like the next. Every day brings a new challenge to navigate. Every new challenge brings a learning experience making you better prepared for the next. It’s a matter of keeping your eye on the ball. The ball being the customer’s freight which will go through many hands of communication from ordering to delivery. And you have to manage every facet of the process and every person that comes in contact with the freight, from ordering clerks to shippers, to drivers and dispatchers and receivers, all to ensure it arrives as needed for your customer. Any hiccup in the process demands your immediate reaction and solution to get things back on track.” – Mel B.

“I love logistics because it fits my personality. I especially appreciate the autonomy and professional freedom both the industry and Kingsgate provide. It's honestly the biggest motivator for my work.” – Rob D.

Logistics has a lot of ups and downs but it’s the ability to help our customers in solving challenges that’s the most rewarding to me. I love my career in logistics and working with my family – couldn’t imagine it any other way.

All the Best,
