AMY BARNETT A WOMEN OF EXCELLENCE

November 20 2017

On Friday, November 17th, the West Chester | Liberty Chamber Alliance inducted the Women of Excellence Class of 2017, including Kingsgate’s Owning Partner (and my sister), Amy Barnett! The gala was a  perfect celebration for ten women who have dedicated their lives, both personally and professionally, to improving themselves and the communities and people that surround them. When nominating my sister, I knew no matter the results she already was a woman of excellence in my mind. She is selfless and doesn’t want attention for all the hard work she does. I’m beyond proud she received the recognition she deserves for her dedication to excellence. To give those who don’t personally know Amy more insight I’d like to share my the nomination I submitted on Amy’s behalf below.

To the Women of Excellence Selection Committee,

Do you have a person in your life, that “go-to” person, who when all else is down, is there for you unconditionally?  That’s my sister, Amy Barnett.  And she is the exact same way with anyone on our team. Kingsgate is a family business and every member of our staff is treated the same. Collectively, we have a work-family often referred to as the “Kingsgate Family” and Amy is the glue that keeps the family together. We affectionately refer to Amy as our “Chief Culture Officer” because of the energy she brings to our office. Each day, our mornings begin with a warm “Good Morning!” as she goes from office to office, desk to desk greeting everyone. She brings an unmatched level of enthusiasm to work events and encourages everyone around her to have fun with the work they do. I often share this Vince Lombardi quote with our team, “each player must contribute to the spirit because it is the spirit, that is the binding force that enables you to win.” I share this particular quote because it’s because of each of our employees– and their work spirit – that keeps Kingsgate moving, growing and serving our customers. However, it is because of Amy’s spirit that our team feels so at home and motivated to stay at Kingsgate. She is an integral part of our ownership team and truly makes Kingsgate a better place.

But Amy’s generosity of spirit and treasure doesn’t stop at our doors. It is Amy who comes up with or gets to execution, a lot of our Kingsgate Gives Back initiatives.  In just the last twelve months, the company has impacted many charities in the West Chester/ Liberty community. We’ve held clothing and food drives for Reach Out Lakota. We “adopted” kids from One Way Farm for a Christmas gift donation to make sure each kid had gifts to open. Amy additionally, was the primary coordinator of our sponsorship with the West Chester/ Liberty BBQ Fest benefitting the Rotary Club, both in 2016 and in 2017.

Working, operating and growing a family-owned business for over 30 years has simultaneously been one of the most challenging and rewarding things I’ve ever done. I am constantly thankful for the legacy my parents created and for my siblings and wife, who’ve made managing and developing Kingsgate enjoyable. To that point, I am especially thankful for Amy; we could not operate Kingsgate the way we do today without her dedication and time. Amy truly puts immense effort into all she does, especially when it comes to maintaining the tradition our parents started.

Amy’s work has defined and shaped the Kingsgate and has changed the impact we have on our employees and the community as a whole. These are just a few of the reasons why I nominate Amy for the Women of Excellence Award. Thank you for your time and consideration.

All the Best,

Jeff Beckham
