FIREWORKS, FOOD, FAMILY & FREIGHT

July 03 2017

The Fourth of July brings out the patriot in all of us– we fire up the barbecue, crack open a cold beer, while watching fireworks with family and friends. Don’t get me wrong, I love these festivities (and the grilling), but sometimes it’s necessary to look beneath the commercialized surface of this holiday. As a small business owner, I can’t help but take some time on this day to reflect on how my siblings and I are able to carry on my parents’ American Dream.

Mom and Dad started Kingsgate for the sole purpose of providing for a stable and honest living. Their vision grew to include friends and family, but never in a million years would they have dreamed Kingsgate would become the company it is now. That’s the beauty of living in the Land of Opportunity.

For some, the American Dream is becoming wealthy, for others, it is to further their education and have a better life than those that came before them. No matter who you ask, the concept of the American Dream is individualized. That’s how this nation was developed — on the hard work and determination of visionaries and entrepreneurs.

The more I think about Independence Day, the prouder I am to be an American. My life is a testimony to what our Founding Fathers envisioned for the future of this country. That’s why freight fits in to my 4th, having the ability to pursue my passion for strategic logistics while spending my free time on the green, or with my wife, kids, and (of course) my sweet Labrador mix, Sophie.

I am proud to continue the vision my mother and father created. This Fourth of July, I know we also have a lot to be grateful for. So, while you enjoy tomorrow’s festivities, I hope you’ll join me in reflecting on 241 years of American history.

All the Best,

Jeff Beckham
