STAYING PRODUCTIVE IN THE SUMMER

June 12 2017

While summer doesn’t officially begin until next week, most of us see the arrival of warm weather as the start of the season. Summer prompts afternoons playing golf, vacations, many schedule changes and often a drop in motivation. The last thing we want to do is be stuck inside for eight hours a day when the sun is shining, but summer doesn’t have to impact your success and productivity.

 Follow these summer productivity tips:

Shift priorities–

Be flexible when timelines and duties change. People take vacations more frequently during summer, making it vital to change schedules and take on extra responsibility to ensure things run smoothly when coworkers are out of office.

Utilize your team –

Delegate responsibilities and help each other complete tasks. Use your team as a source of motivation to finish up the week strong and help your co-workers catch up after vacations. Additionally, prepare for your own vacations in advance, ensuring your team has all the information they need to look after your workload. Be a support system for those you work with.

Manage email–

Ensure emails aren’t lost in the shuffle of varying summer schedules. Organize your emails based on importance, set reminders for completion and use your away messages to efficiently direct emails in your absence.

Make a schedule –

If you don’t already do this throughout the year, creating and managing schedules become even more vital during summer. Plan your day, week or month with respect to shifting timelines, projects and tasks.

Enjoy the weather –

Take time to enjoy the sunshine even during the work week. Use your lunch break to eat outside or go for a walk for a midday energy boost.

Relax –

When you finally have the chance to take time away on the weekend or on your vacation, make sure you leave work at the office. With preparation prior to departure, you’re setting yourself and your team up for success. Make sure you truly enjoy your time away from work, knowing it is well-deserved.

All the Best,
