CULTURE IS CRITICAL

January 23 2017

I’ve mentioned in our previous blogs that Kingsgate is currently undergoing rapid expansion. As we welcome a new hire today, I am reminded why it is so important to impart culture to new hires from their first day. There are numerous articles and studies that narrate how company culture is quickly becoming the most important aspect of a company – it gets people in the door and keeps them there. At Kingsgate, we express our culture by:

1. Always communicating culture standards

Our culture drives everything we do. On an employee’s first day, we welcome them to the “Kingsgate Family” by walking them around the entire office and introducing them to every member of our team. During orientation, we walk them through every aspect of culture of Kingsgate, what it means to us and how every individual contributes to our success.

2. Living our values daily

Enforcing our culture doesn’t stop after the first day. Culture is ingrained in how we conduct our business. Our team embodies our culture inside and outside the office in our interactions with customers, carriers and each other. Living and breathing our culture in everyday office interactions keeps our culture consistent.

3. Displaying our culture

Physical displays of company values and culture act as a constant reminder to employees to live out what drives us. We sent out an anonymous survey to our team, asking them how they would describe our culture. We were able to use these results to create and install “Our Kingsgate Culture” wall.

4. Featuring ways to get involved & listening to feedback

At Kingsgate, believe it is important to have our employees influence our culture. If employees help create company culture, then we’re better able to ensure that it suits their needs, values and goals. To this end, we provide opportunities and encourage employees to recommend new ideas and give feedback.

What’s your favorite part of your company culture?

All the Best,

Jeff Beckham
