EAT, DRINK AND BE SCARY (AT WORK): THE BENEFITS OF WORK PARTIES

October 31 2016

Happy Halloween! Today Kingsgate is celebrating this holiday with our work family by hosting a costume contest, sharing candy and other Halloween treats. This isn’t the first time we’ve gotten into the partying spirit. At Kingsgate’s we’ve celebrated big events and small events, such as Christmas, our 30th anniversary, Employee Appreciation Day, Shark Week, National Donut Day and many more. We have many reasons to celebrate and we do so together. Here are four reasons you should implement office parties (more than once a year):

1. Provides a Mental Break

Work gets busy and people often forget to take much-needed mental breaks. They go from meeting to meeting or call to call, only checking emails when they have a spare moment. Having a work party, with provided lunch, snacks or activities gets everyone on their feet and away from the glow of their computer screens. They’re the perfect way to stop thinking about the to-dos of the day and help break up regular routines; by providing a mental recharge before sitting back down and getting back to work.

2. Creates a Culture of Camaraderie

Creating relationships is the core of office parties. I’ve said it in multiple blogs – you spend more time at work than you do with your family and friends. It’s nice to have the opportunity to spend time getting to know the people with whom you spend 40 hours a week. Office parties also give other departments a chance to interact. It’s easy to get wrapped up in your own department, but we have to collaborate company wide to truly be successful. Work events create team unity and encourage employees to celebrate accomplishments and support each other.

3. Gives Employees Recognition

You know that employees work hard. Celebrating their accomplishments at a work gathering is a great way to recognize employees and co-workers for their time and effort! A company’s success is rooted in the achievements and dedication of their employees; recognition shows employees you value their contributions and encourages them to keep up the good work.

4. Boosts Company Morale

Lastly, work celebrations boost company morale because employees know that they’re recognized and supported. It’s also important to show employees that you care about more than just the work they do for your company; you’re recognizing that their needs to be satisfied in a workplace go beyond pay. When morale is high, employees are more likely to enjoy their job, work efficiently and stay with the company.

All the Best,
