A Grateful Heart

Last week on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, we shared this graphic with some of the things the Kingsgate Family was thankful for.

It’s incredible to think how much this pandemic has impacted virtually every aspect of our lives. We have all been touched in so many ways and the challenges have sometimes felt overwhelming. Yet, we somehow continue to persevere and overcome. What stands out to me is that regardless of the hardships, the human spirit continues to prove resilient. We’ve found ways to connect, support, comfort and celebrate throughout the year. And yes, we have much to be thankful for! This Thanksgiving season was one unlike any other, similar to many other holidays and occasions throughout 2020. My family even celebrated virtually and instead of turkey, my girls opted for homemade pizzas (I blame their mother’s Italian roots for that one). As I reflected on the things I am thankful for, my family is always top of my list and owning a family-owned business takes my appreciation and gratefulness for my family to another level. My family has always been in my corner and this year I’ve been especially grateful to have them and the Kingsgate Family in my corner.

As a few of our employees said above, our team has embodied turning lemons into lemonade or cranberries into cranberry sauce, if you will. Whether they’ve been working from home or in our offices, they show up and get the job done for our customers and carriers. Each department has brought their best to the team and for the team. We know we have leaned on our team this year more than ever. We have asked for more and expected more, and the Kingsgate Family answered the call. When I think about what I am grateful for, it is each and every one of our employees who stuck it out with us! With all the challenges in front of us, the team came through for the company and our customers time and again. Saying “thank you” doesn’t quite seem good enough, but I promise, it is with the deepest sincerity that our family thanks each member of the Kingsgate Family. As owning partners, my siblings and I have been as flexible as possible to the needs of our employees regarding remote work and providing the Kingsgate Family the opportunity to assist their families throughout the pandemic. Seeing how grateful our team is for this makes it all worth it, even though I think I can speak for my siblings and say how much we miss having all the Kingsgate Family together.

This year has been tough – it’s been said before and I’m sure it’ll be said again. However, I remain humbled by Kingsgate’s successes, inspired by the hard work of our team, thankful for the dedication of truckers and supply chain workers across the globe and grounded by the support of my family. I truly have a very grateful heart!

Thinking of all of you as we enter the holiday season.

All the Best,

Jeff Beckham
