MANAGING THE STRESSES OF THE LOGISTICS INDUSTRY

August 21 2017

Logistics, transportation, and supply chain are booming, complex industries. They are growing so much that “logistics” is a buzzword in today’s world. With that comes preconceived, often negative notions of the industry. I want to discuss these stereotypes and how Kingsgate works to ensure our customers’ needs are met, our carriers are supported, and our employees are happy.

1. Demanding Environment

Transportation is time sensitive. From moving food to manufacturing materials, pick-up and delivery has to be timely. As a third-party logistics provider, we are taking on your promise to your customer. That means moving goods 24/7, 365.

That in itself is demanding. It puts stress on our customers because they relinquish control of their product and therefore their business. They have to rely on their 3PL being able to deliver on their promises.

It’s demanding for carriers because there is little room for error in a space where a multitude of factors can create problems. Carriers face everything from difficult weather conditions, traffic, construction, and more.

These two points combine and put stress on employees. Their job involves keeping their customers at ease and aiding the many carriers they work with by anticipating and avoiding issues.

2. How Kingsgate Alleviates Industry Stress

Kingsgate works to help employees manage and lessen industry stress. We utilize cutting edge technology to ensure we provide our customers with ways to track and trace their shipments in real time– eliminating the worry of where their materials are.

For our carriers, we work to ensure timely pay on fair prices, reasonable fuel surcharge consideration, accurate dispatch information, and a respectful environment with no surprises.

Lastly, as a member of the Kingsgate Family, we provide our employees with an innovative, casual, and open work environment. We have a support system to help our employees. We are open to hearing and acting on feedback when employees have a way to reduce stress for the team.

How do you and your company handle potential stressors?

All the Best,

Jeff Beckham
