WHEN SANTA CAN’T DELIVER, TRUCK DRIVERS CAN

November 28 2016

It’s official. Thanksgiving is over, and the holiday season is in full swing. You can’t go longer than five minutes without seeing or hearing traces of it. Houses are being decorated, holiday music is everywhere, and family traditions are being continued. On the other side, mall parking lots are a nightmare, sale notifications pop in your inbox 15+ times a day and most of all, people are shopping. The retail world is exploding, but what does that mean for the transportation industry?

The holiday season can often be a stressful time. For those working in logistics, this is especially true. Almost every single good purchased this holiday season will have been on a truck at some point in its journey to your local store or your door step. The months before the holidays are a busy season for the transportation industry. There is a high demand to keep store shelves and stockrooms full.  Trucks are constantly moving during the winter months to ensure that groceries and retailers can replenish their inventory to compensate for the high levels of shopping. All of this doesn’t even account for online orders.

In the modern age of online shopping, retailers not only have to keep up with individual store inventory, but attend to ever-increasing online orders. Timely delivery is always crucial in the transportation industry, but when the holidays come around, there is an increased pressure to deliver every order on time. The weather, backed up supply chains and the massive amounts of orders can make this difficult.

As demanding the holidays are, they can be just as joyous. The best ways to ensure less stress is to prepare, stay on schedule and keep the important things in mind this holiday season.

All the Best,
